Public Health

The Ministry of VWS encourages people to adopt healthy life styles: to exercise more, to refrain from smoking, to use alcohol moderately, to practise safe sex and to eat healthily. People who have problems with their health should be able to call on their general practitioner, the hospital or other forms of health care on time. They are insured for this care and therefore have a right to health care. Together with health insurers, health care providers and patient organisations, the Ministry of VWS ensures that there are sufficient facilities and that people have sufficient choices.

Welfare

The Netherlands too has groups of residents that profit less from our welfare state. They are not economically independent or do not take an active part in society. In collaboration with ministries that are focused on the economy, education, housing and the environment, the Ministry of VWS strengthens the social infrastructure. Volunteer work and youth care are important parts of the social policy.

Sport

Sport promotes health, provides social contacts and contributes to self-development. The ‘sports mission’ of the Ministry of VWS is to make it possible for everyone to play sports. In addition, the Ministry focuses on and funds top-level sports, so that the Netherlands can perform well at international tournaments.

CIBG

The CIBG is an executive branch of the department of public health, well-being and sports. We collect and process certified data which we then deliver in an understandable manner, primarily to organisations within the health sector. However, consumers can consult our data too. By publishing these data, we are able to provide consumers and professionals with reliable and relevant information.

As an innovative partner, the CIBG can perform a variety of tasks in an utmost cost-efficient manner. Consequently, we are able to contribute to a more transparent and affordable health care. After all, future generations will want affordable and qualitative health care too.

Ministry of Defence

Committed to peace and security, always and everywhere.
Defence stands for peace and security, in the Netherlands and elsewhere. The armed forces contribute to stability and freedom in the world. The Ministry of Defence comprises the Ministry itself (Central Staff), the four armed forces (the Royal Netherlands Navy, the Royal Netherlands Army, the Royal Netherlands Air Force and the Royal Military and Border Police), Support Command and the Defence Materiel Organisation. With a workforce of some 69,000, the Ministry of Defence is one of the biggest employers in the Netherlands.
